Are the glasses half full or half empty? We spotted Nicole Richie on the celeb outfit identifier strolling through the Sydney airport wearing a pair of the most unique sunglasses we’ve seen.  These 60s-inspired round Chanel sunglasses feature tint on only the top half of the lenses.  The bottom half is clear, so you don’t have to take them off to read or to see something clearly. These shiny black sunglasses truly help you look classic and glam, while looking like you’re on the cutting edge of fashion.

It’s only fitting that someone so fashion-forward would wear such eye-catching shades. Their oversized lenses and chunky temples ensure full coverage.

These super-cool shades are hand-designed in France and handmade in Italy. Fergie is sporting the brown corduroy, but they’re available in seven other different color combinations and patterns, too.

These sunglasses are for the celebrity in all of us.

Vergara and Valentino Sunglasses

Sunglasses on Sophia VergaraBefore you ask, yes, these Valentino shades are all that. I think that may be why Sofia Vergara is smiling so broadly. She’s seen here on the celeb outfit identifier in these elegant designer sunglasses that are all business in the front, party on the sides.  These shiny black frames are gently rounded and feature temples with a unique braided design. They’re available in several fashion colors such as violet, pink, brown and havana. You’d expect nothing less from an Emmy-nominated actress, and Ms. Vergara delivers.

Aniston and Aviators

646Jennifer Aniston is showing the sophisticated side of Ray Ban in this picture on the celeb outfit identifer.  She wears these aviator sunglasses with a skirt and heels, though they’d be just as at home paired with a t-shirt and jeans. The smoky brown tint flatters her coloring, while the classic shape fits her features.  We’ve seen aviators in all sizes, from dainty to oversized.  Jen’s aviators are on the smaller side.  The better to see you with.

They’re for the person who wants to have a little fun and doesn’t take herself too seriously.

Jessica Biel’s Bold, Blue, Beautiful Sunglasses

Blue Rayban Sunglasses

Blue Rayban Sunglasses

Jessica Biel does casual chic complete with sunglasses in this picture shot of the actress in New York City. According to celeb outfit identifier the cool blue shades she is sporting are Ray Ban. They are slightly larger and more feminine in appearance than the classic wayfarer so after a bit of research I believe them to be the Oversized Cat Eye Ray Ban is currently offering.

This style is available in three colors, all of which make a statement: blue, white and plum. Other specs are:

  • 100% UV protection
  • Black frames: green lens, Light Havana frames: brown gradient lens, White/black frames: gray gradient lens, Dark violet frames: crystal grey gradient lenses
  • Scratch-resistant G-15 lenses
  • Made in Italy

One vendor of the glasses states these sunglasses look eternally chic and glamorous in an oversized “Cat Eye” shape. Biel certainly conveys this as she hits the streets of Manhattan.

Famed Coach Joe paterno’s Eyeglasses Auction for $9,000

Joe Paterno recently donated his thick lensed eye glasses to Penn State Public Broadcasting to offer during their 18th annual fundraising event. Paterno was Penn State’s much loved football coach for many years and wore the eyeglasses since his first game there in 1966.

The glasses were bid on byMichelle and Kevin Coppolla, both Penn State grads and football fans. They have mounted the glasses in a shadow box with a color photo of Paterno. The spectacles will be displayed alongside numerous other pieces of Penn State memorabilia. So why pay $9000 for an old pair of eyeglasses? Michelle Coppola was stated, “We think Joe Paterno is one of the greatest football coaches of all time and part of the iconic image of Penn State. This just sounded like a good opportunity to have memorabilia of Penn State and something of Joe that is one of a kind,” she said. “We were pretty determined to have them. They are worth every penny for us.”

Why the Uproar for Enforcing Vision Testing for Drivers?

In 1977 New Jersey state passed a law requiring drivers to have their vision tested every 10 years to renew their driver’s license. The law has never been enforced. The current system requires a basic exam at the DMV when originally applying for your license and only requires a 20/50 reading in one eye to pass. After this exam there is no vision monitoring.

Suddenly there has been talk of actually enforcing the law making the roads safe for everyone. I for one would like to know the the person barreling down upon me on the freeway or passing me in a tunnel is able to see, however the public outcry in New jersey seems to indicate not everybody feels this is important.

I disagree, I feel that not only is vision monitoring of utmost importance but would prefer that drivers can actually see signs in front of them and maybe even possess a bit of depth perception.

Please consider this next time you pull a pair of old eyeglasses on, when was your script last tested. If it’s been a while consider that perhaps you have accommodated to changes in your vision and can’t even notice that it is time for an update.
